Baptized In Your Shit

This is ExtinctionOfMankind, and their first Lp entitled "Baptized in Shit". This was realised in 1995 on the awesomely crusty Skuld. This is straightforward heavy mid passed and dirty. After a thorough listening you might feel the need to take a shower, then you realize you don't shower that's for yuppie scumbags who work 9 to 5 jobs and who's idea of crust belongs to pizza. By the way there might be some glitches in a couple of the songs, if that bothers you go buy it! Skuld made plenty to go around.

DIY or DIE

DoomedSpecies is like a disgruntled animal rights activist high on PCP beating the shit out of a vivisector with a lead pipe then stopping to catch a breath before continuing to beat shit-head to death. This grinding abomination is a two man band hailing from southern California consisting of a guitar player(Trevor) and a Drummer(BenAgroMosh). Both components of DoomedSpecies have been other bands Trevor was the Guitar player of Sabu and Ben was in MittenSpider, GorgonizedDorks, and runs AgroMoshRecords. Doomed Species is completely self recorded and do not use any vocal effects.Their sound is intense, mixing grindcore with crust while maintaining a No-Fi sensibility reminsent of BlackMetal. I also love how at times they will even through in some nice little sludge breakdowns. While i am sure many people will not find this listenable i happen to think the lack of production or clean sound makes this demo interesting. It sounds raw, primitive and minimal giving it a layer of muddiness that adds to the overall sound. As for the lyrical content it ranges from Misanthropic world views, animal rights and acts of extreme violence. Needless to say DoomedSpecies Fucking Hates You. This is for fans of early NapalmDeath, Disrupt, Agathocles, Crust, and Lo-Fi BlackMetal.

The Stench Of Death

Now I'm not going to go on a big rant about crust do to there big opposition to soap mixed with water simply because...well i suffer the same opposition. Some folks will make excuses about squatting and not being able to luxuries of running water or even claiming that many brands of soap contain animal bi-products which is unfair to our animal brethren. I simply am lazy and lack the simple necessity of caring. Any who This is Hellbastard and their 1986 demo entitled 'RipperCrust'. This demo gave a name to a whole breed of filthy like minded punks who had a taste for metal aesthetics while still maintaining the punk ethos, a hybrid of long hair and tight smell black clothes. Anyways the members of Hellbastard wanted to be a melding of Slayer with crass lyrics, i would say they shot for the stars and ended somewhere better. It neither sounds like slayer nor does it have the simplicity of Crass's lyrics. HellBastard comes across sounding similar to Amebix in both content and musical style, but with a more metal tinge. Members later went on to join forces with EnergeticKrusher and form HellKrusher, both good bands. Enjoy.

In Battle There Is No Law

This is The First Release from BoltThrower, the less epic 'InbattleThereIsNoLaw' released in 1988. Many people just pass this record off as a stepping stone for what they would latter become saying that its sloppy and not as well thought out. I feel rather differently, i think this is their best album by far. The other releases while more technically perfect, they lack the same kind of young sloppy"raw" energy that this one has. Plus The artwork is worlds better then the stuff based from the "Warhammer Gaming Series". That's all i really have to say, Now i am off to go eat some ToFurky, Macaroni Salad, and Sweet Potatoes.

Dreadlocks And The Plight Of The Native Americans

This is AcidRainDance and this is their S/T 7" from 1991 released on the awesome Skuld, as you can imagine this is a crust band with heavy metal leanings. I was floored when the first time i listened to this and i had it on 33rpms i thought to myself this is fucking awesome doom!!!! then i realized i was wrong, and its just really awesome Stenchy Crust from Germany i don't know to much about this band other then what i have already told you and that they also put out an Lp which i am kicking myself for not buying when i had the chance. This abum isn't just your typical dimestore crust band they are really talented and are kinda of poppy in a weird sense, and they love the Metal. It kinda reminds me of a faster axegrinder sans the keyboard intros. So Dance! Dance Away! But I would advise to stay out of the rain(cuz that counts as a shower).

Drinkin Smokin Straight Westcoastin

Sabu Hail from a cornucopia of Southern California cities. They play grindcore, and for the most part grindcore is a pretty popular form of underground music(at least in SoCal). Sabu play it in a pretty good, and relatively different way. The drums are a little more reminiscent of a UK82(SpecialDuties) style or a D-beat(Discharge), its not just simple blast beat all the time. But the drummer manages to even make his blast beats fairly clean. The vocals are all over the place, lows, highs, guggling-burps, and its all done by one man with a lot of time on his hands and a willingness to tear his vocal chords. The guitar work is simple, distorted and sludge at parts and is just overall dirty sounding. The best way to experience Sabu is definitely live. I have had the pleasure of watching these guys a bunch of times. They certainly have a great energy and the crowds seem to love them. This is from their only official release which was a three way split featuring FiringSquad, And PeopleHate. This was released in 2007, and is still available through EverydayHateRecords out of Poland, so if you like please pick one up. Stand out tracks include 'Retaliation', 'PowerviolenceHolocaust', and '820'. '820' is dedicated to the singers son('820' being Aug,20th), and i think that is hilarious to break the monotony of songs about serial killers, wrestling, and gore, to talk about how much you love your son. But i guess child birth is a pretty "Brootal" thing. Plus they named them selves after a wrestler, a pretty "BROOOOTAL" wrestler. This is definitely for fans of more punk influenced grindcore in the vein of (early)NapalmDeath, FleshParade, and UnholyGrave.

Crushingly Slow

Photobucket

Pain, anguish, paranoia, and the stench of marijuana. This double 7" entitled 'Twin Threat To Your Sanity' is just that a threat to your way of life and the values to which you cling to. It features four flawless live tracks from those on the four front of sludge(in 2001). Also features an awesome CelticFrost cover from Noothgrush. I'm not to big on live recordings, seeing as so many are just so poorly produced that unless you were there to witness these spectacles in all there glory, what's the point. But this one flat-out floored me, all the tracks were taken from four separate concerts and they are all of good quality. Every bodies favorite Dystopia, is good as always, along with sludges favorite band from the rising sun, Corrupted. Last but not least, why is it that everybody hates Bongzilla? Their music is awesome, and maybe they are a lil over the top about their consumption. But i was under the impression that they played stoner metal, and isn't that what they are supposed to be doing? Anyway, challenge your sanity.

Dystopia- Diary Of A Battered Child
Noothgrush- Procreation Of The Wicked
Bongzilla- Gestation
Corrupted- Nieve

Hope You Like The Stench

Photobucket

Deviated Instinct were a Crust band that existed from the mid 80's til about 1990-91? this is their last effort, the 'Nailed EP' its more comparable to latter day Carcass. So its a bit heavier than the typical crust, and the drums a far more intricate, at least for a crust band. the music is slowed down a bit and its just good, the vocals are barked through a few effects, that can be cheesey at times. So if you liked 'Gutteral Breath' you'll love this, it even shares a track 'void' which is a pretty awesome song. The stand-out song has to be 'Listen To The Sirens'. If you like dreadlocks, tight pants, and the overwhelming stench of a dying system, then you'll dig it.

Will You Ever Learn?

masskontroll will you

MASSKONTROLL are awesome, i remeber buying the "Will You Ever Learn" LP (released in 1996 on Mind Control) when i was a junior in high school, it was the first album i took a risk in buying without ever hearing them first or any recommendation. It made the hairs on my neck stand on end. 'Will You Ever Learn?' was such a great release, from beginning to end. It was so dark and depressive. It gave my the feeling that all hope was lost, and any album that can produce that horrific of a feeling is great in my book. MASSKONTROLL hailed from Portland and existed from 1994-1996(?) and featured Kelly who has been in his fair share of bands, such as:RESIST, DEPRIVED, DETESTATION,SUICIDE BLITZ, MURDER DISCO X, DISORDER, SEVERED HEAD OF STATE AND DEFIANCE... stand out tracks include(pause while thinking), all of them. Enjoy.
